INDIA @2047
The year 2047 would mark a hundred years of India’s independence, epitomizing a century old vision of the “Vishwaguru Bharat”. To make India a truly developed nation, a holistic approach focused upon social equality, good governance, sustainability, economic growth, technological advancements and foreign policy would be required. Socially, India would need to snap out of its orthodox societal structure and as per the ongoing efforts, gender, caste, religious and class discrimination would need to be eliminated. With women reservation bill, reservation for the depressed minorities, SCS, STs, OBCs, passing of the triple talaq bill, upliftment in all these sectors is expected. Continuing to be the world’s largest democracy, India would surely maintain its credibility and the concepts of good governance, Panchayti raj system, would develop India politically.
Educationally, India would jump from a 12% literacy rate to a 90% literacy rate as per the NITI Aayog reports. With the Nalanda University inauguration, it has already taken a step forward to re-establish high dass Indian education.
India’s net zero- emission commitment and solar sustainability would make a more sustainable country by 2047. According to The Times of India, fossil fuel expenditure would reduce by around 90% in 2047. While water shortage, global warming and forest fires continue to be a major concern, on the brighter side, the country is working towards them.
Economically, India has set an example worldwide and according to Mr. Raghuram Rajan, it would grow 4x by 2047.
Digitalization and artificial intelligence would enhance India technologically, creating less disparity between the east and the west.
Foreign policy has seen major changes over the years and by 2047, mutual interdependence and globalization would lead to good relations with the west and the neighbouring countries too. India’s neighbourhood first policy, Panchsheel and Vasudev Kutumbhakam have come a long way and would benefit India in future. While it would be a 100 years to independence from the British, it would be interesting to note how we come at par with the west, while maintaining good ties and securing reputable positions in BRICS, SAARC, G7, UN and other organizations.
2047 would mark a hundred years of independence, 2 billion and innumerable dreams for a better India.
